Do violent video games really affect children, or is it all a bunch of hoopla?

Oh you couldn't have asked me a better question. I have such strong feelings about this. I have observed so much anxiety, distress, sleeplessness and other related issues in children and adults using video games and not just violent ones! Video games are design to cause a degree of excitement but they also seem to cause so much more.
I have both a Wii & an XBox. I have noticed in myself a degree of tension and bodily discomfort from the way I hold my body and hands whilst playing these games. I find it very difficult to relax and keep my body in a positive position. Although I am aware of what I'm experiencing as the excitement increases and the competition builds so does the stress in my body. I'm a psychotherapist who works with both children and adults and I do not and will never condone the use of violent video games.
I find the Wii and XBox great for Zumba, dancing and sports games.
